Countdown

In a little more than 26 hours, I will be in the airport waiting for my plane. In a little more than 28 hours, I will officially be off. I have never planned so much for a trip and known so little about what I’m going to be doing. We will be arriving in Bangkok at 11:45pm Monday night where we have reservations to stay at this cute little hotel on Koah San road (the backpacker ghetto). It looked really nice on-line – a beautiful swimming pool, breakfast, and close to everything. My principal (who has spent considerable time in Thailand) tells me differently. According to him, Bangkok is the ninth circle of hell and Koah San road is the center of it all. Either way it will be an adventure. We have three nights reserved at this hotel and then NOTHING!!!! No hotel reservations – no plans about where to go or what to do! I’m actually a bit excited about this prospect. I’ve never traveled like this before, and I’m looking forward to all the experiences (and difficulties) that it will bring. I promise to take lots of pictures.
